Overview of Citicoline + Piracetam Tablets:

INTICOL-P Tablets contain Citicoline and Piracetam. Citicoline seems to increase dopamine receptor densities (a brain chemical) called phosphatidylcholine. This brain chemical is important for brain function. Citicoline might also decrease brain tissue damage when the brain is injured. It helps in the biosynthesis of cell membrane phospholipids. Citicoline also operates to increase the blood flow to the brain along with oxygen uptake and glucose metabolism. Piracetam is a psychoactive drug having abilities to augment cognitive, learning, and memory abilities, to decrease oxidative and hypoxic stress and to stabilize cells in the blood and CNS

Citicoline belongs to the class of nootropic and neurotropics. Piracetam is a nootropic drug.
One INTICOL-P Tablet, once or twice a day, or as directed by Physician.

INTICOL-P Tablets can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Memory enhancement
  • Neurological cognitive disorder
  • Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease.
  • Depression and acute stroke
  • Vasospastic disorder

Citicoline is a pyrimidine 5’-nucleotide which serves as an essential precursor in the synthesis of lecithin (phosphatidylcholine) and other phospholipids. It has ability to increase the synthesis of phosphatidylcholine, the primary neuronal membrane component. It also enhances acetylcholine synthsis and might thus ameliorate symptoms caused by the stroke induced loss of cholinergic neurons. It has ability to reduce free fatty acid accumulation at the site of injury and thus prevent further damage. It reduces and limits the injuries to the membranes of the nerve cells, reestablishes the sensitivity and the functions of the regulatory intracellular enzymes and accelerates the reabsorption of cerebral edema. This supports the use of citicoline in increasing, maintaining and repairing the membranes and neuronal function in situations eg. Ischemia and traumatic injuries. In patients with senile dementia, citicoline reduces the evolution of damages. Piracetam alters the physical properties of the plasma membrane by increasing its fluidity and by protecting cells against hypoxia.
