Nisunate

(Artesunate 60 mg Injection)


Overview

NISUNATE Injection is an antimalarial medication that contains Artesunate. It is a first line treatment for severe malaria. Artesunate is water soluble and therefore can be given by Injection.

Artesunate belongs to the class of semi-synthetic derivative of artemisinin.
NISUNATE Injection can be used in the treatment of severe P. falciparum and P. vivax malaria in areas where there is evidence of quinine resistance.

Adults: A loading dose of 2 mg/kg via IM or IV infusion, should be followed by 1 mg/kg after 4 hours and 24 hours. Thereafter a dose of 1 mg/kg should be given daily for a maximum of 7 days.
Children: 1.2mg/kg.
