NISIVIR Lyophilized Injection can be used in the treatment of following conditions:

• Herpes Zoster infections (Shingles)
• Genital Herpes
• Chickenpox (Varicella)

Adults and Adolescents (12 years of age and older): 5-10mg/kg infused at a constant rate over 1 hour, every 8 hours for 7 days.

Pediatrics (Under 12 years of age): 10-20mg/kg infused at a constant rate over 1 hour, every 8 hours for 7 days.

Acyclovir stops replication of herpes viral DNA in 3 ways: 1) Competitive inhibition of viral DNA polymerase, 2) Incorporation into and termination of the growing viral DNA chain, and 3) Inactivation of the viral DNA polymerase.
