Overview of Ursodeoxycholic Acid Tablets:

UDEXON Tablets contains Ursodeoxycholic Acid 300mg.
Ursodeoxycholic Acid (also known as Ursodiol), helps regulate cholesterol by reducing the rate at which the intestine absorbs cholesterol molecules while breaking up micelles containing cholesterol. Because of this property, ursodeoxycholic acid is used to treat gall stones non-surgically.

Primary Biliary Cirrhosis:

Adults: 10-15mg/kg/day UDEXON Tablet in 2-4 divided doses or as directed by physician.
Dissolution of Gallstone:
Adults: 6-12mg/kg/day UDEXON Tablet in divided doses or as directed by physician. Depending upon the size of stone, dose may continued or increased.

UDEXON Tablets can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Dissolves gallstones (Non-surgical treatment).
  • Reduces cholesterol absorption.
  • Improves liver condition in patients with a wide range of chronic liver diseases.
  • Useful in NASH (Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis) therapy, especially when combined with other drugs.
  • Marginal therapeutic effect for primary biliary cirrhosis.
  • Treatment of fatty liver disease and dyslipidemia in morbidly obese patients.

1-2 teaspoon of APPYHIGH Syrup twice daily (after or prior to meal) or as directed by Physician.

Ursodeoxycholic acid reduces elevated liver enzyme levels by facilitating bile flow through the liver and protecting liver cells. The main mechanism is anticholelithic. Although the exact process of ursodiol’s anticholelithic action is not completely understood, it is thought that the drug is concentrated in bile and decreases biliary cholesterol by suppressing hepatic synthesis and secretion of cholesterol and by inhibiting its intestinal absorption. The reduced cholesterol saturation permits the gradual solubilization of cholesterol from gallstones, resulting in their eventual dissolution.
