TELTRON
TELTRON Tablets contains Telmisartan. It has very high lipophilicity, a unique feature of telmisartan, coupled with a high volume of distribution, indicate that the compound offers the clinically important advantage of good tissue penetration. Telmisartan is not a prodrug and has a longer terminal elimination half-life than other commercially available sartans (~24 h), making it suitable for once-daily dosing.
Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist.
TELTRON Tablets can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:
- Mild to moderate hypertension
- First line treament in the management of essential hypertension
- Cardiovascular risk reduction (MI, stroke, elevated lipid profile etc.)
One TELTRON Tablet once daily (with/without food), or as directed by Physician.
Telmisartan interferes with the binding of angiotensin II to the angiotensin II AT1-receptor by binding reversibly and selectively to the receptors in vascular smooth muscle and the adrenal gland. As angiotensin II is a vasoconstrictor, which also stimulates the synthesis and release of aldosterone, blockage of its effects results in decreases in systemic vascular resistance.
