Overview:
TUMETON Tablets contain Metformin. Metformin is first-line treatment for Type II Diabetes and the only antidiabetic agent which has shown reduced macrovascular outcomes which is likely explained by its effects beyond glycemic control.
Metformin belongs to a class of biguanide antihyperglycemic agent.
TUMETON Tablets can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:
- Type II Diabetes, as an adjunct to diet and exercise.
- Indicated in patients 17 years of age and older as either monotherapy or in combination therapy.
One TUMETON Tablet daily with evening meal, individualized dose is on the basis of effectiveness and tolerance.
Dose should be started at a low dose, with gradual dose escalation. The maximum recommended daily dose in adults is 2500 mg.

Metformin reduces hepatic glucose production by inhibition of gluconeogenesis and glucogenolysis.It increases insulin sensitivity in muscles, improving peripheral glucose uptake and utilization, and delays intestinal glucose absorption.
