Overview of Amlodipine + Atenolol Tablets:

AMLOBIO-AT Tablets is a fixed dose combination of Amlodipine and Atenolol. It has contrasting mechanisms of actions— vasodilator action by Amlodipine and decreased cardiac pumping by Atenolol. The combination therapy is more effective than monotherapy.

Atenolol is a cardioselective beta blocker. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium-channel blocker.
AMLOBIO-AT Tablets can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Chronic stable angina and hypertension as co-existing diseases.
  • Myocardial ischemia.
  • Mild-to-moderate essential hypertension.
  • Refractory Angina Pectoris.
One AMLOBIO-AT Tablet daily or as directed by Physician.
Atenolol competes with sympathomimetic neurotransmitters such as catecholamines for binding at beta(1)-adrenergic receptors in the heart and vascular smooth muscle, inhibiting sympathetic stimulation. This results in a reduction in resting heart rate, cardiac output, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, and reflex orthostatic hypotension.
Amlodipine blocks the transmembrane influx of calcium ions into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle.
