Gevoflox

(Levofloxacin 500 mg Tablets / Injection)

Overview:
GEVOFLOX Tablets and Injection contains Levofloxacin. Levofloxacin has a broad-spectrum activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Because Levofloxacin is nearly 100% orally bioavailable, it has an advantage over other fluoroquinolones.

Levofloxacin is a broad spectrum antibiotic of the fluoroquinolone class.

GEVOFLOX Tablets & Injection can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Community acquired pneumonia
  • Nosocomial Pneumonia
  • Sinusitis
  • Cystisis
  • UTIs
  • Prostatitis
  • Skin infections

1-2 GEVOFLOX Tablets once daily for 7-14 days or one GEVOFLOX Injection administered by slow infusion over 60 minutes every 24 hours, or as directed by Physician.

Levofloxacin inhibits bacterial type II topoisomerases, topoisomerase IV and DNA gyrase. Levofloxacin, like other fluoroquinolones, inhibits the A subunits of DNA gyrase, two subunits encoded by the gyr A gene. This results in strand breakage on a bacterial chromosome, supercoiling, and resealing; DNA replication and transcription is inhibited.
