Overview of Piperacillin + Tazobactam Injection:
TAZOHEAL Injection contains Piperacillin 4g + Tazobactam 0.5g. The combination distributes rapidly after parenteral administration and penetrates well into skin, lung, and intestinal mucosa. Compared with other beta-lactam-beta-lactamase inhibitor combinations, piperacillin-tazobactam has comparable efficacy in the treatment of intraabdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and upper and lower respiratory tract infections.
Piperacillin is a broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic of the ureidopenicillin class.
Tazobactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor.
TAZOHEAL Injections can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:
- Nosocomial and community acquired pneumonia
- Intra-abdominal infections
- Skin and soft tissue infections
- Female pelvic infections
Infuse one TAZOHEAL Injection over 30 minutes every 6 hrs for 7–14 days, or as directed by Physician.
Piperacillin exerts bactericidal activity by inhibiting septum formation and cell-wall synthesis of susceptible bacteria. Tazobactam broadens the spectrum of Piperacillin by making it effective against organisms that express beta-lactamase.
