Overview:
DOXINIS-CV Tablets contain Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid. It can be used as an empiric therapy and step-down to oral therapy (switch therapy). Stepping down from IV to oral therapy provides comfort to patients, avoids the hazards of parenteral delivery, early discharge from hospital and better compliance.
Cefpodoxime is an oral third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. Clavulanic Acid is a semisynthetic beta-lactamase inhibitor isolated from Streptomyces.
1-2 DOXINIS-CV Tablets every 12 hours for 7-14 days or as directed by Physician.
DOXINIS-CV Tablets can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:
Cefpodoxime is active against a wide spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It inhibits cell wall synthesis. The bactericidal activity of Cefpodoxime results from its inhibition of cell wall synthesis.
Clavulanic acid contains a beta-lactam ring and binds strongly to beta-lactamase at or near its active site. It is an enzyme inhibitor that enhances the antibacterial activity.
