Vancomycin 500mg Injection

Overview:

Vancomycin is a powerful glycopeptide antibiotic used to treat serious Gram-positive infections, including MRSA. It is often reserved for severe infections that do not respond to other antibiotics. Vancomycin is administered intravenously for systemic infections and orally for Clostridium difficile-associated colitis.

Glycopeptide antibiotic

500 mg every 6-12 hours (adjusted based on renal function)

Vancomycin Injection can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

  • Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections
  • Severe skin and soft tissue infections
  • Endocarditis (heart valve infections)
  • Bacteremia (blood infections)
  • Clostridium difficile-associated colitis (oral form)
  • Osteomyelitis (bone infections)
  • Pneumonia caused by Gram-positive bacteria

Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by blocking peptidoglycan formation, leading to bacterial lysis and death.
