Overview:

Moxifloxacin 0.5% w/v is a fourth-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. It works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase, thereby preventing bacterial replication and reducing symptoms like redness, irritation, and discharge. Studies have shown its efficacy in bacterial conjunctivitis with a 92% resolution rate (J Cataract Refract Surg, 2018).

Fluoroquinolone Antibiotic

1 drop 3 times daily

Contromax-M Tablet can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

Bacterial conjunctivitis (including multidrug-resistant strains)
Corneal ulcers
Pre- and post-operative prophylaxis in ocular surgeries
Microbial keratitis
Blepharitis and blepharoconjunctivitis

Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing supercoiling and strand separation required for bacterial DNA replication and transcription, leading to bacterial cell death.
