Tropicamide 0.8% + Phenylephrine 5% is used for mydriasis in diagnostic procedures. Studies in J Ophthalmol (2021) confirm a 95% pupil dilation success rate within 20 minutes.

Mydriatic

1 drop 2-3 times daily

Ikamed can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

Mydriasis for fundus examination
Pre-operative dilation for cataract surgery
Uveitis-induced posterior synechiae prevention
Refractive error assessment in pediatric patients

Tropicamide, an antimuscarinic agent, competitively blocks M3 receptors in the iris sphincter muscle, inducing mydriasis. Phenylephrine, an alpha-adrenergic agonist, stimulates the iris dilator muscle, further enhancing pupillary dilation.
