Overview:

Nepafenac 0.1% w/v is a prodrug NSAID that rapidly converts to an active form in the eye, effectively reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation after cataract surgery activating in ocular tissues. A study in Br J Ophthalmol (2021) found a 70% reduction in post-operative macular edema risk.

Statofen can be used in the treatment of the following conditions:

Post-operative pain and inflammation in cataract surgery
Diabetic macular edema adjunct therapy
Post-refractive surgery inflammation
Non-infectious corneal inflammatio

Nepafenac, a prodrug, penetrates the cornea and is converted to its active form, amfenac, which inhibits COX enzymes, suppressing prostaglandin-mediated inflammation and pain.
