NISPRED 4

Overview:

Nispred (Methylprednisolone) is a potent corticosteroid used to treat a wide range of inflammatory, allergic, and autoimmune conditions. It helps reduce inflammation, suppress overactive immune responses, and provide rapid symptom relief in conditions such as arthritis, asthma, severe allergies, and skin disorders.

As an immunosuppressant, Nispred is also used in organ transplantation and certain autoimmune diseases to prevent the immune system from attacking the body’s own tissues.

Corticosteroid / Anti-Inflammatory & Immunosuppressant

General inflammatory conditions: 4–48 mg/day, depending on severity
Acute asthma/COPD flare-ups: 16–32 mg/day for a short course
Autoimmune disorders: 4–60 mg/day, adjusted per medical condition
Tapering: Gradual dose reduction is advised to prevent withdrawal symptom
  • Autoimmune diseases – Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, multiple sclerosis
  • Respiratory conditions – Asthma, COPD, severe allergic reactions
  • Skin disorders – Psoriasis, eczema, severe dermatitis
  • Inflammatory conditions – Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis
  • Endocrine disorders – Adrenal insufficiency, congenital adrenal hyperplasia
  • Organ transplantation – To prevent organ rejection
  • Severe infections (with antibiotics) – Meningitis, septic shock

Methylprednisolone binds to glucocorticoid receptors, modulating gene expression to suppress inflammation and immune response. It inhibits pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1, IL-6, TNF-α) and stabilizes lysosomal membranes, preventing tissue damage. Additionally, it suppresses the HPA axis, reducing cortisol production and controlling autoimmune, allergic, and inflammatory conditions effectively.
