Sucralfate forms a complex that binds to protein-rich exudate on ulcer surfaces, preventing the acid in stomachs from destroying blood clots. By increasing tissue levels of fibroblast and epidermal growth factors, sucralfate increases prostaglandins in the gastrointestinal tract lining, promoting ulcer healing.
Oxetacaine inhibits gastric acid secretion by suppressing gastrin production.
The hydrochloride salt of oxetacaine is soluble in organic solvents and can penetrate cell membranes as a weak base.
Efficacy of Oxetacaine is enhanced by incorporating the unionized form into cell membranes, to reduce sodium ion permeability in the area around the application site.
